USF wraps up its five-game homestand with in-state foe UCF on Wednesday at the Sun Dome before hopping on a flight to Nevada on Thursday to play in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic Dec. 19-20. USF faces USF (San Francisco) and San Diego in Vegas.

The Series
|
USF is 18-5 all-time against UCF with a 9-1 record in the past 10 meetings. The only loss, though, was the 71-63 defeat last season on Dec. 6 in Orlando. In that game, USF's Dominique Jones tallied a game-high 31 points, and added seven rebounds and four assists. UCF's top returner from that game is Taylor Young, who had three points, three assists and two rebounds. |
The University of South Florida junior guard Dominique Jones looks to continue his 30-point streak against UCF when the Knights and Bulls battle Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in the Sun Dome.
Jones dropped 31 points on UCF just one year ago, in addition to the 30 he scored as a rookie against the Knights. Jones was 11-17 from the field and hit a pair of threes along with seven free throws and seven rebounds on Dec. 6, 2008. The year before, on Dec. 1, Jones was 10-13 from the field with four treys and five assists.

SAME TEAMS, NEW NAMESIn last season's USF-UCF matchup, 19 players saw court time, including eight Bulls and 11 Knights. Of those 19 players, only eight are on their respective rosters for this year's game.
For the Bulls,
Dominique Jones,
Chris Howard and
Justin Leemow are the only guys who faced UCF a season ago. Jones scored a game-high 31 points while Howard had six points and Leemow grabbed a pair of rebounds.
For the Knights, A.J. Rompza, Taylor Young, Drew Speraw, Isaac Sosa and A.J. Tyler return to the court against USF for the second season. Those five players combined for 13 points and 12 rebounds a year ago. Sosa, who didn't score and had one rebound, is now the team's scoring leader with 12.3 per game.
