TAMPA, NOV. 17, 2014 - Leading the USF women's basketball team in points scored en route to two huge wins to kick off the 2014-15 season, junior guard Courtney Williams was recognized by The American Monday.
Williams averaged 18 points and nine rebounds over two games against teams finishing in the RPI Top-50 last season, earning American Honor Roll mention in the first award of the season.
Against Villanova, Williams scored a team-high 21 points including eight of USF's last nine, and grabbed 10 rebounds to pick up her first double-double of the season in the 57-56 win. Williams scored four times with the Bulls down by one, the final basket leaving USF ahead for good.
In the second game, Williams' 15 points and eight rebounds helped end Chattanooga's 40-game home winning streak - previously the longest active streak in the NCAA. Williams knocked down three key three-pointers in that game, and shot 4-6 from beyond the arc over the weekend.
The Bulls (2-0 overall) go back on the road for their third game of the season, traveling to face Maryland Wednesday at 7 p.m. USF is back in Tampa Saturday for its home opener against UNC-Asheville at 2 p.m.
