TAMPA, OCT. 29, 2015 – Coming off a win at East Carolina, USF volleyball looks to keep building momentum during two more conference road tests this weekend.
The Bulls eye a season sweep of Tulane on Friday at 8 p.m. in New Orleans. USF wraps up a four-match road trip 2 p.m. Sunday at Houston.
Head coach Courtney Draper's squad performed well on the road last Sunday in a 3-0 sweep of East Carolina. The Bulls finished with a 63-51 advantage in digs while holding East Carolina to a .122 hitting percentage.
USF (7-15, 4-6) won its first meeting with Tulane this season in dramatic fashion at The Corral on Oct. 4. Tulane took the first two sets before the Bulls roared back while hitting .345, .387 and .529 in the final three sets. Tulane (7-15, 1-9) has lost eight straight matches after defeating New Orleans, 3-1, on Sept. 29.
After Tulane, the Bulls will be looking to avenge a tough 3-2 loss to Houston at The Corral on Oct. 2. USF took the first and fourth sets before Houston edged the Bulls, 15-13, in the final set. Houston (15-7) is in a five-way tie for fourth place with a 5-5 conference record.
Bulls in the Spotlight
- Dakota Hampton recorded her seventh consecutive double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs against East Carolina. The junior outside hitter ranks ninth in the conference with 3.08 kills per set.
- Joli Holland is sixth in the conference with a .326 hitting percentage. The sophomore middle blocker led all players with a .615 hitting percentage at East Carolina.
- Molly Burkhardt finished with a team-high 22 assists at East Carolina. The freshman setter has distributed the ball well this season while leading the team with 5.96 assists per set.
- Denise Belcher is second on the team with 2.76 kills per set after finishing right behind Hampton with 13 kills against East Carolina.
