CARLSBAD, Calif., NOV. 3, 2015 – Aksel Olsen and Claudio Correa each carded an even-par 71 to boost the Bulls in the second round of the Gifford Collegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
No. 26 USF (+10) is tied for sixth place and a shot away from the top five in its final event of the fall season. Washington (-8) grabbed sole possession of the lead by going 9-under at La Costa Legends Course (par-71, 6,996 yards). No. 5 Stanford (-6) dropped a spot to second place and is followed in the top five by San Diego State (+4), UCLA (+7) and Oregon (+9).
Olsen (+2) topped his first-round score by two strokes and jumped up seven spots to a tie for 18th place with teammate Cristian DiMarco. Olsen, a senior from Norway, has performed well all fall for the Bulls with three top-25 finishes and a fourth-place performance the last time out at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic.
DiMarco, a sophomore from Longwood, Fla., carded a 74 after starting the tournament in seventh place at 1-under.
Correa birdied five holes and improved on his first-round score by four shots. The sophomore from Chile jumped up 15 spots to a tie for 30th at 4-over.
Freshman Oskar Bergqvist collected three birdies on the back nine and posted a 72, four shots better than his first-round score.
