TAMPA (Jan. 18, 2016)— The USF women's tennis team is set to host St. John's in the first home match of the spring season Tuesday at noon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
Season Outlook
After opening the season at home against St. John's, USF will travel to Gainesville to play the third-ranked University of Florida Gators on Jan. 27. The Bulls will match up against another ranked opponent 10 days later when they take on No. 2 USC.
The match against USC on Feb. 6, will start a streak of four straight matches on the road that ends Feb. 28 against conference foe Tulsa. The Bulls will then play 10 straight home from March 2 to March 27.
Conference opponents for the Bulls this season will include Tulsa, SMU, Cincinnati, Tulane and UCF. The American Athletic Conference Tournament will be held April 20th in Memphis, Tenn.
The 2015-16 Bulls
The Bulls will be led this year by first year head coach Cristina Moros. Moros is a graduate of the University of Texas, where she was a member of the University of Texas 1995 National Championship team. Moros was named head coach of the Bulls in May of 2015.
USF will be returning six players from 2014-15 squad, while welcoming five new players to the roster. The Bulls squad are consists of four freshman, two sophomores, three juniors and two seniors and will represent eight different countries.
Scouting the Opponent
St John's is led by a first year head coach Lauren Leo. Leo was a graduate of St. John's and recently worked as Director of Tennis at Hofstra University.
St. John's finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 14-9 and finished 5-1 in the Big East. The Red Storm returns six players from their 2014-15 team and will be welcoming three new players.
History vs. St John's
The Bulls will look to continue their recent success against St. John's on Tuesday. Since the 2005-06 season, USF is 5-0 against St. John's while only dropping two total points in those matches. The Bulls are also 3-0 against St. John's at home during that same time frame. The last meeting between these two teams resulted in a 7-0 win for USF on March 7, 2014

Admission to USF women's tennis matches are free to the public and all matches will feature free pizza or donuts for those in attendance.
