TAMPA, JAN. 25, 2016 – Former USF standout Kayvon Webster is carrying on a prestigious program tradition.

Webster will be making his second Super Bowl appearance after shining in the secondary and on special teams for the Denver Broncos in their 20-18 AFC Championship win over New England. USF has had a former player on a Super Bowl team 12 times and at least one in five of the past six seasons.

Webster, a third-round pick by Denver in 2013, played in Super Bowl XLVIII in his debut season as a pro and the versatile defensive back did his part to help the Broncos book a trip to Super Bowl 50. Webster posted two tackles, broke up a pass and helped pin New England deep on special teams.

Denver was clinging to a 17-12 lead late in the third quarter, when a diving Webster scooped up a Britton Colquitt punt in front of the goal line that was downed at the New England 4-yard line.

“Kayvon was awesome,” Peyton Manning said after the win.

Making plays was something Webster did on the regular as a Bull from 2009-12. The former All-Big East selection racked up a career-high 81 tackles (61 solo) during his senior year with three forced fumbles. Webster made 190 total tackles as a Bull and he's tied for 12th on the program's all-time list with 49 career games played (32 starts).

“I'm thankful and blessed to be in the position I'm in; to leave USF, get drafted and then come to a winning team is a great thing,” Webster said in a feature on GoUSFBulls.com prior to his first Super Bowl trip.
