TAMPA, FEB. 9, 2017 – USF women's golf will compete in its third tournament in a two-week stretch at the Florida State Match-Up in Tallahassee.
Action at the three-day event begins Friday at Don Veller Seminole Country Club (par 72, 6,260 yards). USF finished up at the UCF Challenge on Tuesday afternoon after placing ninth at the Florida Challenge, the Bulls' home event in Lecanto on Jan. 30.
Following the final round of the Florida State Match-Up on Sunday, USF gets a two-week break from competition before the Hurricane Invitational, which begins Feb. 27 in Miami.
The Lineup
Head coach Tiffany Prats' lineup will include junior Maria Rodriguez, senior Nicole Autrique, sophomore Maria Merchan, senior Ashley Burke and freshman Amanda Leslie.
Leslie will lead off the opening round for the Bulls on the first hole Friday at 8:38 a.m. Check out all the tee times HERE.
The Field
USF will take on at least three teams ranked in the top 25 for the third consecutive event this spring.
The field includes host and fourth-ranked Florida State, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 20 Oklahoma, No. 23 Texas A&M, Virginia, Missouri, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Coastal Carolina and Middle Tennessee.
Notables
- Senior Nicole Autrique (Mexico City) was mentioned in The American's weekly notebook after posting her first top-25 finish of the season at the Florida Challenge and carding two rounds of par or better at the UCF Challenge.
- USF will be shooting for its third top-10 finish of the year after tying for seventh at the Yale Women's Intercollegiate (Oct. 9) and placing ninth at the Florida Challenge (Jan. 30).
- Junior Maria Rodriguez (Cali, Colombia) led the Bulls the last time out at the UCF Challenge, tying for 33rd place at 2-over (70-73-75) on Tuesday afternoon.
- USF's even-par 288 in the second round of the UCF Challenge marked the Bulls' best round of the season so far.
