TAMPA - The University of South Florida named Chris Malloy the new head men's golf coach on June 29, replacing former coach Jim Fee who was named Director of Events and Championships with USF.
With a new coach in place, the Bulls will look to continue to build on the program's success.
Over the next five weeks, we will take a closer look at the man in charge of the men's golf team, including his journey from a kid who golfed with his dad on weekends to the head coaching position with the Bulls.
The Ole Miss graduate joined the USF staff this summer after four years as the assistant coach with Florida State. Malloy helped lead the Seminoles to their first ACC Championship in 2008.

USF Men's Golf Coach Chris Malloy developed his team skills playing collegiate golf at Ole Miss. “We had the most success that Ole Miss had in quite a few years,” says Coach Malloy.
The success that Coach Malloy is referring occurred during his junior and senior seasons, when the Ole Miss men's golf team reached the NCAA Championship.
Learning to win and lose as a team was one thing that helped Malloy know the daily ups and downs of collegiate golf. He learned how to handle the good with the bad, and how to move on and make himself better each day.
However, success doesn't happen in a vacuum. Coach Malloy attributes a lot of his personal success to the relationships he made within his team and with the women's golf team at Ole Miss. “Our men's team was very close with our women's team,” says Coach Malloy.
Building relationships on and off of the course is what has made Malloy be able to reach out across the country to meet and greet the best golfer, coaches and professionals in the sport.
The people that Malloy has met in his time in collegiate golf have helped his every day efforts of being a college golf coach.
At Ole Miss, Coach Malloy met current USF women's golf coach Marci Kornegay.
Coach Malloy attributes his easy transition into the men's golf coach position to his friendship with Coach Kornegay, which has been an invaluable asset. “She's been great through this process, allowing me to bounce things off of her,” says Malloy.
Malloy may just be joining USF, but he already knows what it takes to be a Bull.
