TAMPA - The USF women's soccer team got a good glimpse of the future stars of the program in a 2-0 loss at Marquette on Saturday night.

Head coach Denise Schilte-Brown gave some of her younger players extended minutes and liked the Bulls' intensity in their season finale. Sophomore Sharla Passariello, freshman Cara Patterson, sophomore Abby Sams and redshirt freshman Kelsey Waechter all played more than 55 minutes.

“They showed up, played hard and created some chances,” Schilte-Brown said. “We got a chance to look at some young, talented players, so it was a good night.”

Marquette (17-2, 10-1 in Big East) got goals from Taylor Magidan and Kate Reigle against a tough USF defense.

“They are going to represent us well in the NCAA Tournament. They definitely deserve to be where they are,” Schilte-Brown said of Marquette.

USF keeper Nicole McClure made nine saves and junior Summer Ikeda stepped in to log 17 minutes of action in.

“Both attacked the ball well. They played solid,” Schilte-Brown said.
