Angels Select Adams in 8th Round of MLB Draft

TAMPA - Austin Adams became the first Bull selected in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft when the Los Angeles Angels selected the junior in the eighth round (267th overall) on Tuesday afternoon.

The right-handed reliever is coming off his best collegiate season after posting a 1.82 earned run average with 34 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings. The Tampa native finished second on the team in saves (5) while opponents batting only .120 off him.

Adams shined during last month's Big East Baseball Championship when he earned three saves in a a four-game span. His final save helped the Bulls book a trip to the conference tournament championship game.
