Team Notes

-USF won its seventh-straight home opener

-USF is now 12-4 in season openers and a perfect 11-0 when opening the season at Ray Jay

-USF had five different players record a touchdown (D. Murray, D. Hopkins, S. Griffin, T. Mitchell, B. Daniels) … the last time the Bulls had at least five different players score was six against FAMU on Sept. 17, 2011 (D. Scott, B. Daniels, M. Shaw, S. Griffin, A. Davis, A. Love)

-USF notched six total sacks … the Bulls reached at least six sacks twice in all of 2011 (seven vs. Connecticut, six vs. Miami)

-USF held Chattanooga to just 92 total yards in the first half … the last time the Bulls kept a team under 100 in the first two periods was against Rutgers on Nov. 5, 2011 (87 yards).

-USF held the Mocs to -1 total yards in the first quarter … the Mocs also went without a first down in the first quarter.

 

Individual Notes

QB B.J. Daniels

-Daniels scored his 21st career rushing TD giving him sole possession of fourth place all-time at USF

-Recorded his 10th career game with at least one rushing TD and one passing TD

-Daniels finished the game with 225 passing yards, for his 16th career 200+yard passing game … he is two shy of tying second place all time at USF (18, Matt Grothe)

-With three passing TDs, was one shy of his career single-game best for passing TDs (four)

-Recorded 164 yards in the first half alone with two TDs

                                                                                                                               

DE Ryne Giddins

-Giddins moves to 12.5 career sacks, placing him tied for 10th all-time at USF.

 

RB Demetris Murray

­-Scored his first rushing TD of the season in the first quarter, moving his career total to 13 … Murray is two TDs away from cracking USF’s all-time top 10 list for rushing TDs.

-Rushed for 55 yards on 16 carries with no loss.

 

K Maikon Bonani

-With his four points, set the USF scoring record with 248 points, passing previous record-holder Santiago Gramatica (246 points, 2001-04)

 

LB Sam Barrington

-Recorded his fourth career sack in the third quarter.

 

WR Derrick Hopkins

-Scored the first TD of his career with a 19-yard reception in the second quarter

 

DT Todd Chandler

-Recorded his first career sack in the second quarter

 

WR Terrence Mitchell

-Scored his first career receiving touchdown with a 38-yard reception in the second quarter

-Recorded 69 yards on four punt returns with a long of 39 … his 69 yards are his most since 94 against WKU (Sept. 25, 2010).

 

WR Sterling Griffin

-Recorded his first TD of the season with a 40-yard reception in the third quarter, now has six receiving TDs on his career.

 

LB DeDe Lattimore

-Led the team with 10 tackles, one shy of his career-best (11, set three times)
