TAMPA - The USF softball team got the bats going Sunday afternoon and had an outstanding pitching performance by Lindsey Richardson in a win over Coastal Carolina to finish off the USF Tournament.

The Bulls (6-3) jumped out early and cruised to a 5-1 win in front of a crowd of 771 at the USF softball stadium.

Richardson was superb yet again for the Bulls, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing only one hit and an unearned run to go along with 10 strikeouts.

After struggling to come up with clutch hits on Saturday the Bulls wasted no time to reverse that trend Sunday afternoon.

Junior Courtney Goff got the scoring started in the second inning when she singled down the right field line to score pinch runner Ilaura Reeves. It was Goff's second straight game with an RBI and her second of the season. Monica Santos then scored on a double steal to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead heading into the third inning.

USF had another big inning in the fifth when they added on three more runs to pad their lead. D'Anna Devine scored first on an error by center fielder Kiana Quolas after a single up the middle by Kourtney Salvarola.

In the Bulls next at-bat freshman Lee Ann Spivey doubled home Kenshyra Jackson and Salvarola for her team-leading sixth and seventh RBIs on the year.

Richardson had a no-hitter broken up in the sixth when Quolas hit a sharp liner to Jackson at third that careened off of her outstretched glove.  Richardson picked up the win and is now 3-1 for the season.

Coastal Carolina scored one run in the sixth to cut the Bulls lead to four after an RBI single by Paige Goldsack. They would not score again, however, as Sara Nevins came in with the bases loaded and struck out Brooke Donovan and forced Sara Rasley to pop up to first to end the inning.

Nevins finished the game with three strikeouts and picked up her first save of the season for USF.

The Bulls will be back in action next weekend when they head to Clearwater for five games. Their first game will be Friday, Feb. 22 against Southern Illinois at 3:30 p.m
