Schilte-Brown's 100th Win With USF Was a Thriller

TAMPA, OCT. 20, 2016Denise Schilte-Brown's 100th win as head coach of the Bulls came in thrilling fashion on Thursday night.

Junior Grace Adams made the Corbett Stadium crowd roar in overtime with a goal in the 98th minute of USF's 2-1 comeback victory over East Carolina. USF (11-2-1, 3-2-1) improved to 3-0-1 in overtime games this season.

Thursday's fast and furious opening half included 11 total shots and a goal from each team.

Aggressive USF started off with a 4-1 shot advantage, but ECU found the back of the net first with a goal by Marianna Shurina in the 22nd minute.

USF answered back six minutes later with Andrea Hauksdotttir's fourth goal of the season. The equalizing sequence featured assists by Leticia Skeete and Evelyne Viens.

ECU (4-10-1, 0-5-1) put the heat on early in the second half by recording the first eight shots. Keeper Kat Elliott made a clutch save on a low shot by Lana Spitler in the 56th minute. Elliott made three saves in the second half to help the Bulls force overtime.

Viens nearly came up with the golden goal in the 93rd minute of play, but her promising shot was saved by Caroline Jeffers. The redshirt freshman keeper made another stop on a shot by Skeete in the 97th minute.

USF's persistence finally paid off in the 98th minute, when Adams fired home her second game-winning goal of the season. Adams' first goal of the season came in the 103rd minute of a 1-0 victory at Temple on Oct. 13.

3-0-1 – USF's record in overtime games this season.

3 – The number of shots taken by the Bulls in overtime. ECU did not record a shot in overtime.

4 – The number of total saves made by Kat Elliott.

Notables:

- USF improved to 6-1-1 in home games at Corbett Stadium this season.

- The Bulls have outscored opponents, 18-6, at home this year.

- This marks USF's sixth season with at least 10 wins in the Schilte-Brown era. The Bulls won at least 10 games in each of the past five seasons.

USF will honor 10 seniors in the regular season home finale against Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Jordyn Listro, Leticia Skeete, Jess Clark, AJ Blount, Lotta Fennefoss, Trudi Carter, Payton Cook, Nikki Lauderback, Estefania Fuentes and Nayeli Requejo will all be honored on the field in a pregame ceremony.
