TAMPA (Feb. 2, 2017) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team will return to the Varsity Tennis Courts for their first matches at home this season Feb. 3 and Feb. 5. The Bulls will face Southern Miss Friday, Feb. 3, at noon, and Texas Tech Sunday, Feb. 5, at noon. The first 50 fans at Friday's match will receive a free Rocky bobble head.
After a slow start, the Bulls (1-2) posted their first win of the season during the ITA Kick-Off weekend where they defeated DePaul, 4-2. Ana Roman Dominguez and newcomer Brooke Lashway clinched the doubles point for the Bulls and improved their doubles record to 3-0. The Bulls continued their momentum going into singles play, and notched wins on courts 1, 5, and 6 to end the match.
Scouting the Opponents:
The Bulls will face Southern Miss (1-0), who kicked off their spring slate with a clean sweep of Jackson State. The Golden Eagles took each singles opponent in straight sets, and sealed the doubles point with wins on all three courts.
USF will face its first ranked opponent of the season in No. 12 Texas Tech. The Raiders have two wins under their belt after defeating both UC Santa Barbara and Arizona State during the ITA Kick-off weekend.
Texas Tech's Sabrina Federici was named Big 12 Player of the Week after her 4-0 weekend to open up the season, including two ranked doubles wins. Federici and her doubles partner, Sarah Dvorak, picked up wins against No. 33 Melissa Baker and Stephanie Yamada of UC Santa Barbara, and No. 36 Kelley Anderson and Savannah Slaysman of Arizona State.

The Bulls will remain home next weekend and welcome Stetson and Troy to the USF Varsity Tennis Courts Feb. 11 and 12.
