March 18, 2017

TAMPA (March 18, 2017) – The Bulls utilized four shutout sets, three straight-set wins, and a doubles point to clinch 4-0 sweep of the UAB Blazers Saturday.

Vera Bessonova posted a shutout win in her first set and clinched the match for the Bulls with a second-set, 6-2 win on court three. Senior Olga Martinez and sophomore Vanja Klaric posted a pair of 6-0, 6-1 wins over UAB to secure the first singles points for the Bulls, and put USF within one point of winning the match.

In one of the quickest doubles points for the Bulls, USF clinched with 6-0 wins on courts three and two. On three, Nicole Dzenga and Roman-Dominguez defeated Taylor Factor and Natalie Voss. On court two, Bessonova and Brooke Lashway defeated Marlene Herrmann and Hana Sisirak.

Head Coach Cristina Moros on the win...

"I think this win was important to see if the habits we are working to build are sticking. I was proud of the focus and energy we had on a day where it could have not been as good. It's encouraging to see that because we are going to be on it for the two teams we have coming in this weekend."
