USF won the men's pole vault, women's hammer throw, and women's javelin in a tune-up for The American's Outdoor Championships in Houston in May

HOUSTON, APRIL 8, 2017 – The University of South Florida track and field team recorded three event victories, and eight all-time top 10 marks at the Houston Alumni Invitational on Saturday.

The strong performances bode well for the Bulls who will return to Houston May 12-14 for The American's Outdoor Championships.

A pair of USF seniors tallied two event wins with Bernicia Holifield (Tallahassee Fla.) taking first in the women's hammer throw (185-10) and Mira Carrozza (Pittsburgh) earning the women's javelin top mark (147-6). Sophomore David Bell (Jacksonville, Fla.) also won the men's pole vault. His mark of 17-0.75 is fifth-best in program history.

Sophomore Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Fla.) finished second in the women's pole vault. She cleared a height of 12-7.50, tying her for seventh-best in school history.

USF also placed third in the 4x100m relay. The quartet of Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville, Fla.), Jada Massie (Bradenton, Fla.), Krysten Golden (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), and Shenica Bazile (Naples, Fla.) ran the event in 45.54 seconds, the third-best mark in program history.

Fellow sophomore David Tampa (St. Johns, Fla.) finished third in the 1500m (4:00.57).

• Senior Khadeeja Dooling (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) recorded the fifth fastest 100m hurdles time at USF (13.84).
• Sophomore Nicole Carroll (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) also matched Lambeth in the women's pole vault at 12-7.50, seventh in school history.
• Francis also improved on the eight-best 100m dash time in program history with an 11.68 showing.
• Junior Zach Diaczynsky (Naples, Fla.) and sophomore Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) posted a distance of 51-2.25 in the men's shot put, moving them into a tie for ninth in program history.
• Jada Massie ran the 100m in 11.48 seconds.

The Bulls return home to host the South Florida Collegiate Invitational on April 21-22.

Led by 11th-year head coach Warren Bye, the USF track and field team has produced 21 All-Americans (eight men, 13 women) since 2000 and at least one All-American in nine of the last 10 years.
