USF Closes Season with War on I-4 Victory
ORLANDO (April 15, 2017) – The USF women’s tennis team finished regular season play with a 5-1 War on I-4 victory on the road. The Bulls took advantage of the doubles point and a trio of straight-set wins to clinch the match.
The Bulls surged through doubles and carried a 1-0 lead into singles. Senior Olga Martinez posted a pair of 6-0 wins to earn a straight-set victory at No. 6. Juliana Cardoso and Vanja Klaric worked victories on courts three and four. Cardoso finished 7-6, 6-2 and Klaric went 6-3, 7-6.
Vera Bessonova fell, 6-4, 6-4, and Jessica Cortes Chaves went unfinished on court five.
In doubles, Cardoso and Cortes Chaves worked court two for a 6-3 win, and Klaric and Nicole Dzenga finished 6-1 on three.
The Bulls will head to the USTA National Campus for the War on I-4 April 14 at 4 p.m. to conclude their regular-season schedule.
