Bulls Win Streak Snapped in 3-1 Loss to Houston

HOUSTON (May 6, 2016)— The USF Softball team's six-game win streak came to an end Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to Houston. The Bulls fell to 32-22, 9-7 on the year, while Houston improved to 27-24, 11-6.

Houston took the lead in the second inning with a two-out rally. A USF error extended the inning, allowing the Cougars to plate three unearned runs to take a 3-0 lead.

USF would tack on a run in the fourth on an RBI double from Bethaney Keen, making it a 3-1 game. Lauren Evans led off the inning with a double of her own, coming home a batter later on the double from Keen.

-The Cougars outhit the Bulls 6-4 for the game.
-Houston's Trystan Melancon threw her ninth complete-game.
-Susan Wysocki threw 3.1 innings in relief, allowing no runs or hits.

-The Bulls are still in contention for the No. 3 seed in the conference. Houston secured the No. 2 spot with the win today.
-The six-game winning streak was the Bulls' longest of the season.
-Ken Eriksen is just five wins away from 900 career wins.

The Bulls and Cougars will play in the final game of the series, and the regular season, Sunday May 7, at 1 p.m. EST.
