Coach Charlie Strong will welcome 25 foursomes to TPC Tampa Bay

TAMPA, MAY 18, 2017 – Head Coach Charlie Strong will welcome a sold-out field to the 2017 USF Football Golf Classic, presented by DEX Imaging, on Friday at TPC Tampa Bay.

Registration for the first golf event hosted by Coach Strong at USF was brisk with all 25 foursomes filling up quickly. Friday's outing includes a shotgun scramble, tailgate party throughout the course, gift packages, awards and prizes. All participants get to meet Strong and his staff, and all proceeds benefit the USF football program.

“I'm very appreciative of the tremendous support for this event and the USF football program,” Strong said. “We are going to have a great day out on the golf course and I look forward to enjoying the day with some great Bulls supporters.”

In-person registration is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday, when the practice facility opens to participants. Players will tee off at noon, followed by a live auction and awards reception beginning 5 p.m.

USF finished the 2016 season ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press poll with a school record 11 wins following the program's fifth-ever bowl victory in the Birmingham Bowl. The Bulls' 11-2 record marked the fifth-best winning percentage in FBS football in 2016 and one of just 11 teams to reach 11 wins. USF set nearly 40 team and individual records in 2016, including team records for total yards (6,650), rushing yards (3,714), touchdowns (77) and scoring (569). Junior quarterback Quinton Flowers was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Year and led a school-record 10 players named to the all-conference team, six of which, including Flowers, will return in 2017.
