USF set one school record and 23 all-time top 10 marks in 2016-17

LEXINGTON, Ky., MAY 26, 2017 – Four University of South Florida track and field student-athletes competed at the NCAA East Preliminary.

On Thursday, senior Mira Carrozza (Pittsburgh) posted a distance of 137-2 in the women's javelin and sophomore Jada Massie (Bradenton) ran the 100m dash in 11.98 seconds.

Sophomore David Bell (Jacksonville) cleared 16-4.75 in the pole vault on Friday. Later that evening, senior Michael Babinec (Riverview, Fla.) completed the 3k steeplechase in 9:06.16.

No USF Bulls qualified for the NCAA Championships this season.

The three-day NCAA East Preliminary was hosted by the University of Kentucky.. The Bulls will host the 2018 NCAA East Preliminary. on May 24-26. 

About USF Track and Field

Led by 13th-year head coach Warren Bye, the USF track and field team has produced 21 All-Americans (eight men, 13 women) since 2000 and at least one All-American in nine of the last 10 years. 2016 graduate Matthew O'Neal is USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. The Bulls return all-conference performer David Akins (pole vault) and Michael Babinec (steeplechase), as well as NCAA qualifier Bernicia Holifield (hammer throw). The Bulls are home to the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary.
