TAMPA – The BIG EAST Conference announced the repeat opponents for the 2012-13 women’s basketball season on Wednesday with USF drawing Louisville and Seton Hall.
USF dropped a close game on the road to Louisville last season after leading with less than nine minutes to play against the No. 16 Cardinals. USF swept the season series against Seton Hall a year ago, winning by an average margin of 15.5 points per game.
Along with the repeat opponents, the league announced the home and away opponents for each team. USF, which will open the new Sun Dome this fall, will host Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Syracuse.
Four of those teams Notre Dame (No. 2), Connecticut (No. 4), St. John’s (No. 15) and Louisville (No.16) all finish last year ranked in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Bulls will travel to DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Villanova. Of the eight road opponents for USF, five advanced to postseason play in 2011-12.
The Bulls also advanced to the postseason for the eighth time in the past nine seasons as they made a run to the third round of the WNIT.
USF returns all but one player from its regular rotation from a year ago.
