Walter Bell

Walter Bell is entering his fifth season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and second with USF. Bell is a 2008 graduate of East Carolina University and has worked with both women's and men's basketball programs. Coach Bell works in the same capacity at USF along with eight other teams (women's volleyball, men's/women's soccer, men's/women's tennis, men's/women's golf, cross country, track and field). Prior to graduation, he served as an intern for East Carolina's strength and conditioning staff gaining valuable experience with 13 athletic teams. He continues to play basketball in local leagues as well as weightlifting competitions.

Bell currently is a Professional Member of NCSA and holds a USAW Weightlifting Certification.

Bell served seven years in the US Army. During his military career, he competed in basketball at the company, battalion, and post level. As part of those teams, Bell won seven championships. His unit also competed against and defeated Baharain's National Basketball team twice. Bell was a starter and averaged double digits in scoring each season. Bell served at Ft. Jackson, Ft. Monmouth, Ft. Bragg, Camp Colbern Korea, Kaiserslatern, Germany and Baharain.

Bell is married to the former Charlene Wade of Patterson, N.J. The couple has three daughters (Krystle, India and Ashley) and two sons (Nazareth and Michael).
