D.J. Wingate joined the USF staff as a program assistant for the 2011 season and now serves as a graduate assistant for the Bulls. Wingate came to USF after spending the 2011 spring season as a volunteer assistant in the secondary at Marshall.

A 2010 graduate of Marshall with degree in marketing and management, Wingate played four seasons with the Thundering Herd in the secondary. He appeared in 34 games, posting 45 tackles and 13 PBU during his career.

A native of Daytona Beach, Fla., Wingate was a standout wide receiver and defensive back at Mainland H.S., helping his school to the 2004 state championship.
