TAMPA - The 2011-12 Big East All-Academic Team has been announced and USF is well represented among the 3,370 conference student-athletes named to the list.

A total of 163 Bulls made the team and it marked an increase of 13 student-athletes from the 2010-11 season.  The women's track and field team was the most represented USF group on the 2011-12 list with 28 members earning All-Academic status. Other USF squads on the All-Academic team include women's soccer (19), softball (17), men's soccer (16), women's cross country (16), baseball (14), men's track and field (10), women's tennis (8), men's tennis (7), women's golf (7), men's cross country (7), volleyball (6), men's golf (4), women's basketball (1) and men's basketball (1). The sport of football has its own Big East All-Academic team.

Nominations for the All-Academic Team were submitted by each of the Big East's 16 member institutions. Eligible student-athletes were required to compete in a Big East event and have a grade point average of at least 3.0 for the preceding academic year. They also had to have completed at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.

The All-Big East Academic team also grew as a whole in 2011-12 by 134 more members than what was announced after the 2010-11 academic year.
