TAMPA - Amy West's 3-over 75 was the Bulls' best score in the final round of the UCF Challenge on Tuesday afternoon.
West and teammate Anna Hancock finished in a tie for 36th individually while the USF women's golf team took 16th place at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla. No. 9 North Carolina won the event by posting the only team score that was under par.
USF moved up from 12th to 11th place on Monday before playing a final round that will now serve as motivation for the Bulls moving forward.
"Obviously we have a lot of work to do to close out a final round and gain some respect," head coach Marci Kornegay said.
Christina Miller finished with a 79 and Kornegay was impressed with Diana Rabago, who performed well in two of the three rounds after making the lineup in qualifying the past two weeks.
"Diana showed moments of greatness but just couldn't finish today," Kornegay said.
The Bulls take a break from competition for a month before taking part in the Lady Gator Invitational March 15-17 in Gainesville. USF's other two events in March are the Briar's Creek Intercollegiate and the San Diego State University Farm Classic.
"The time between now and the Lady Gator will be used to prepare us for a busy March," Kornegay said.
