TAMPA – The No. 57 Bulls had a lot of success in Big East play this regular season and look to keep a good thing going in the conference tournament that takes place Thursday through Sunday in Tampa.
“It’s the last tournament with all of these teams, so it’s kind of special that it’s down here in Tampa,” head coach Agustin Moreno said.
Second-seeded USF gets (12-7) started 9 a.m. Thursday with a test against No. 15 seed Villanova and Moreno said the Bulls can’t overlook the 6-13 Wildcats.
“It could be a hard match. Although they’re seeded 15th anything can happen in tennis,” Moreno said. “We have to be sharp against everybody and we’re really excited.”
USF heads to the tournament with momentum after going 7-3 during its home stand to finish the regular season. The Bulls went 6-1 in Big East play and are determined to make it back to the conference tournament title match for a third consecutive season. The Bulls won their first Big East championship in 2007.
“I think we’re ready and we’ve talked so much about it. It’s time to make it happen,” Moreno said.
