TAMPA – Stephanie Medina’s single in the eighth inning propelled the Bulls past Syracuse on Senior Day at the USF Softball Stadium.
With the win USF takes the series and finishes the regular season with a 40-14 record and 18-3 mark in BIG EAST play.
Senior pitcher Lindsey Richardson got the start and struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings. Sam Greiner came in to pitch 2 1/3 innings of relief and pick up her fourth win of the year.
Kenshyra Jackson continued to stay hot at the plate and put the Bulls on the board early when she narrowly missed hitting her 11th home run of the year after she doubled off the center field fence to score Medina.
It would stay 1-0 until the sixth when Syracuse left fielder Mary Dombroski doubled to left field to tie the game at one.
The Bulls wasted no time putting the game away in extras as Kourtney Salvarola singled for her second hit of the game and was moved over to second by D’Anna Devine before Medina’s game winning hit.
USF has next week off and will wait to see where they are seeded for the BIG EAST Tournament May 9-11 at the USF Softball Stadium.
