TAMPA - The USF sailing team finished up their fall season this weekend in Ithaca, N.Y. at the Atlantic Coast Championships.
The AAC’s are typically a preview of what teams will see in the Spring National Championships as the top 18 teams from the east coast all competed in the event.
USF sailors failed well against top competition and had some strong performances throughout the weekend.
In the “A” division, juniors Dominique Wright and Darcy Jensen placed sixth overall, with some spectacular displays of boat speed.
Meanwhile in the “B” division, freshmen Alison Knoles and Kayla Burrows were the starters, but struggled a bit against the more experienced field. However, senior Colleen Hartman filled in nicely, first as a crew and then as a skipper. Overall the team finished 13th, beating several top 15 nationally ranked teams in the process.
