TAMPA, Fla. (July 31, 2007) – Expanding the borders of the Bulls Nation to reach the other side of the world, three particular affiliates of the USF Family are doing their part as members of the United States Armed Services.

BG Luis Visot is the Deputy Commanding General for the 1st Theater Sustainment Command in Camp Arijan, Kuwait.  He is a Brigadier General in the US Army Reserves and is in Kuwait on a 15-month tour, his second in the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Visot has worked at USF since 1981 in various positions and he serves as the Executive Director for the USF Joint Military Leadership Center.  His wife, Cynthia Visot, is employed as the Chief of Staff/Assistant Corporate Secretary for the Office of the President at USF.

CPT Aprelle Schilling (maiden name Curtis) is a 2000 graduate of the USF School of Criminology.  She currently serves as the Secretary of the General Staff for the 1st TSC Command.

SFC Russell Boyce holds three degrees from USF and currently serves the 1st TSC Command as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Staff Judge Advocate Section.  Boyce earned a B.A. in English in 1991 and a degree in communication disorders in 1994.  He followed with a masters in speech-language pathology in 1999.

The 1st TSC has soldiers deployed around the world in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq and Egypt.  The USF flag pictured in the background hangs in Visot’s office in Kuwait.

In an effort to show support to individuals like Visot, Boyce, Schilling and the rest of the armed forces dedicated to serving their country, the USF athletic department is proud to sponsor Military Appreciation Night Saturday, Nov. 17 at the home football game against the University of Louisville.  While exact details are still being finalized, past occasions honoring servicemen and women have included discounted tickets for military individuals, the game ball being delivered by paratroopers and special presentations of the colors and national anthem.

Further specifics will be available on www.GoUSFBulls.com as the event draws closer.
