George SelvieTAMPA, Fla. –
Already assured of being a consensus first team All-American, George Selvie added to his honor list with first team accolades from SportsIllustrated.com and the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Selvie has also been named a first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America, Walter Camp Foundation, Rivals.com and CBSSportsline.com.

He is the first consensus honoree in USF history and the only Bull to earn AP first team All-America honors.

The NCAA’s consensus All-American team is based upon point totals through inclusion on five teams – AP, AFCA, FWAA, The Sporting News and Walter Camp Foundation.  First Team selections count for three points, second team for two and third team for one.

The players with the majority of the votes at their position are credited with consensus honors.  There are two defensive end spots on the NCAA’s consensus team.

Currently, Virginia DE Chris Long has 15 points and Selvie has 12 to easily outpace their competition for the team.

The lone and only omission for Selvie was by The Sporting News, who did not name Selvie to its first or second teams.

TSN did honor USF cornerback Mike Jenkins by naming the lockdown coverman a Second Team All-American.  Jenkins was also a First Team All-American on the AFCA team and an honorable mention honoree by SI.com.

USF senior LB Ben Moffitt and CB Trae Williams also received honorable mention nods from SI.com

Selive all brought home the Bill Willis Trophy, which is presented to the nation's top defensive end by the Touchdown Club of Columbus.

The Pensacola native has led all NCAA FBS players in tackles for loss all season and currently is just a half TFL away from the NCAA record with 31.5.  He also has 14.5 sacks, second in the NCAA.

Selvie and Jenkins are the first USF First Team All-Americans since the Bulls’ joined the NCAA FBS.

USF had two First Team All-Americans as a NCAA FCS team - Bill Gramatica (AFCA First Team, AP Second Team.) and Tony Umholtz (AP First Team).  Former Bulls Andre Hall (SI.com), J.R. Reed (SI.com) both earned honorable mention All-American honors.
