Schilte-Brown Signs Six, More to Come

TAMPA - Univeristy of South Florida women's soccer coach, Denise Schilte-Brown, now entering her fourth season at USF, is proud to announce the signings of six students-athletes set to join the women's soccer program for the Fall 2010 season.

The class so far includes: Sharla Passariello, Abergavenny, Wales;  Erika Taylor (joined program in January 2010), Midland, Texas;
Venicia Reid, Kingston, Jamaica; Kelsey Waechter, Evans, Ga.; Abby Sams, Centreville, Va.; Ashley Haight, East Lake Palm Harbor, Fla.

The class includes two players with National Team experience/caps, two NJCAA All-Americans and three heralded high school players coming from winning club and high school soccer programs.

Schilte-Brown expects to add additional players but have yet receive National Letters of Intent and confirmation through USF admissions.

National: Earned her first national cap for the Welsh U-17 National team at age 14... Earned her first welsh senior cap at age 17... In all has 23 caps for Wales; 10 U-17,10 U-19 and three senior caps.
Prep/Club: Won three National titles while at Filton College; Played for Mardy FC furing 2007-08 season.. Led Mardy FC to the 2007 league championship...Has been a member of Bristol Academy Women's FC of FA Women's Premier League (2008-2010)
Personal: Daugther of Karen and Angelo Passariello...Has one sibling, sister, Zoe.

Named first team all-conference in 2008 and 2009...  NJCAA All-American goal keeper in 2008 and 2009

Personal: Daughter of Carroll & Randy Jones... Has ten siblings, Mandi, Cody, Justine, Maranda, Chad, Chase, Trenton, Travis, Zac, and Erin.

 "Erika joined our program in January of 2010.  She comes to us after being recognized as one of the top goal keepers at the junior college ranks; leading her team, Navarro Junior College, to a #1 national ranking in each of her two seasons as the starting GK.  We are excited to have her with us and feel that her early arrival has really helped with her transition and preparation for next Fall."

National: A current member of the Jamaican Senior Women's National Team; Named the 2007 Female Jamaican Soccer Player of the Year; Was the 2006 MVP for the U-20 Jamaican National Team after being the team's leading scorer...  Junior College (Navarro Junior College): Named a NJCAA All-American in 2008 and 2009... A two-time All-Region player... A 2009 All-Region Academic... Named a 2008 and 2009 All Academic team. 
Prep/Club: Played club for the Portmore Strikers... Leading scorer for the Portmore Strikers in 2002, 2005,2006 and 2007... Named team MVP in 2002, 2005 and 2006; attended Manning's High School

Kelsey Waechter

Greenbrier HS- Evans, Ga.
Prep/Club: Was a four year starter for Greenbrier HS... Led Greenbrier to the Georgia 5A State Semi-finals ... Greenbrier won three Georgia Region Championships... Played club soccer for Columbia United FC, based out of Columbia, SC ... Helped Columbia United to the 2007 South Carolina State Championship... Played in Montabaur, Germany with Columbia United in 2008... Also was a starting member of the South Carolina ODP team.
Personal: Daughter of  Jeff & Kim Waechter; Has one brother, Luke, is a sophomore in high school... Will graduate with honors from Greenbrier HS...  Member of the the National Society of High School Scholars, The Student Athletic Leadership Council, the Beta Club, Drama Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Health Occupations Students of America, Clinical Curriculum at area hospitals and was a volunteer at the Special Olympics... Plans to major in pre-med but has an interest in sports medicine.

Prep/Club: Played at Westfield High School... Four year varsity starter... Team captain junior year ... MVP of 2009 season... Named First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region as a sophomore... Named First Team All-District, First Team All-Region, and Honorable Mention All-Metro as a junior... Plays club for the McLean Dragons... Two-time Virginia State Cup Champions...  Member of VA state ODP 2004-2007 and ODP Region 1 pool player in 2007.
