Bulls Start Weekend with Trip To Jacksonville

TAMPA - Led by the BIG EAST Conference's leading scorer in junior Chelsea Klotz, the University of South Florida women's soccer team heads into a split weekend to wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule.

The Bulls will head north to take on the Jacksonville Dolphins on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. and then return home to Tampa to host Harvard on Sunday, Sept. 12 at noon.

Klotz, who leads the conference in goals and shots per game and is tied for the league lead in points, is off to a red-hot start to the 2010 season. Through five games, she has scored seven goals with three of the goals being game winners.

USF features the second best scoring offense in the conference at 3.20 goals per game. Coupling the Bulls offensive with a solid defense that is allowing 0.60 goals per game, has led the Bulls best start in 13 seasons at 4-1-0.

The Bulls trip to Jacksonville will mark the final road match of the non-conference portion of their schedule. USF's last regular season matchup against the Dolphins was in 2004, which the Bulls won in double overtime, 2-1. However, in 2009, the Bulls handed JU a 2-0 loss in exhibition play at the USF Soccer Stadium.

The Dolphins have split their first six matches so far in 2010 and bring a 3-3 ledger with them into the match but are coming off a 3-0 win over Winthrop last Sunday.

Harvard, winners of the Ivy League crown in 2009, will come into the weekend 1-0-1 after splitting their opening weekend slate. The Crimson opened the season with a 2-2 draw at home against Long Island and then picked up their first win of the season with a 2-0 win at New Hampshire.

The first ever match against Harvard will mark the end of the non-conference schedule for USF and the beginning of a three match homestand for the Bulls.

Following the weekend, USF will turn its focus to BIG EAST conference play as they will welcome Marquette to the USF Soccer Stadium on Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
