UNCASVILLE, Conn. - The Bulls had a knack for the dramatics but didn’t have enough to outlast Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon.

Shaun Noriega’s 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds left sent USF to overtime before coming up just short in a 68-66 loss at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tournament in Uncasville, Conn.

Augustus Gilchrist posted a team-high 18 points and Victor Rudd Jr. chipped in with 16 in USF’s first loss of the season in four games.

The Bulls led, 65-63, early in overtime after a tip-in by Gilchrist until Old Dominion tied it up on a layup by Trian Iliadis with 3:15 remaining. Two free throws by Kent Bazemore put Old Dominion ahead with 52 seconds and Blake Nash missed out on a chance to tie it when he missed his second free throw with 33 seconds left.

Marquel De Lancey’s free throw gave Old Dominion the 68-66 cushion with 2 seconds left and Rudd’s desperation shot from beyond halfcourt rattled off the rim at the buzzer.

USF concludes its time at the tournament Sunday when it faces Penn State at 2 p.m. in a game that can be seen online at ESPN3.com
