Bulls to Host Rowdies on Saturday

By TOM ZEBOLD

USF Senior Writer

TAMPA - The Bulls are going to take on some pros and lend a hand to the future all in one day.

The USF men's soccer team will host the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday at Corbett Soccer Stadium. A youth clinic will be conducted on the USF training fields from 6-7 p.m. before the teams face each other at 7:30 p.m.

"Any time you can play a pro team our guys can get a measure of where we are in the spring season and measure ourselves up to pro soccer players," USF assistant coach Bryheem Hancock said. "To do it against a local team, you have eyes of the coaches there looking at you and could get your name on the radar in the coming future."

General admission tickets for USF-Tampa Bay can be purchased in advance at a cost of $5. General admission tickets are $7 on game day and there is free admission for USF students with a valid ID.

USF also is offering reserved seat back seats for $8 in advance and $10 the day of the game.

The youth clinic is for boys and girls ages 7-13 with USF coaches and former Bulls and Rowdies players on hand to instruct. Tickets cost $10, include free admission to the game and must be purchased in advance. Parents should remember to make sure your children bring a soccer ball to the clinic.

Fundraising proceeds will go to the Nicole Megaloudis Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps students who hope to attend and graduate from a college. Scholarships are given based on students' leadership qualities and financial needs.

Nicole Megaloudis was a freshman soccer player at Virginia Commonwealth in 2004 when she was killed in an auto accident. USF women's soccer head coach Denise Schilte-Brown was VCU's women's head soccer coach from 2000-06 before coming to USF in 2007.

Purchase tickets for the game and youth clinic by calling 813-974-8937, by going online to Ticketmaster.com or by going to any Ticketmaster outlet.
