TAMPA - The USF women's tennis team battled to a 5-2 victory over Miami University after almost five hours of play.

The Bulls were able to sweep Miami in doubles play to get the point, but had to work a bit harder to defeat the RedHawks in singles competition.

Ecaterina Vasenina and partner Loreto Alonso Martinez held their opponents scoreless in their 8-0 doubles win.

Vasenina and Alonso Martinez both won in just two sets in singles competition at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively.

The rest of the singles matches went to three sets, as the Bulls fought hard to win the match.

Danielle Mills beat Christiana Raymond, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to give USF the winning point.

"It was a hard fought battle at 5-2. We won every doubles match, and that's great. The only matches we lost were match points, but I'm really happy," said head coach Agustin Moreno.

The Bulls head to Washington D.C. On Saturday to face Georgetown in the second conference match of the spring season.
