JACKSONVILLE -The University of South Florida track and field teams wrapped up competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds on Saturday by setting the school record in the 4x400m relay. Senior David Aristil, junior Pascal Orelus, freshman Franklin Mosley and senior Reshaw Exilien clocked a 3:07.49, outdoing the school record they set earlier in May by over a second (3:08.69). The Bulls finished 17th in the event overall.
At the conclusion of the three-day NCAA prelims, the Bulls will end up sending three athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Senior David Aristil posted the best 400m hurdles mark in the East to earn his third-straight trip to the outdoor championships and will be joined by senior Jared Thomas (discus) and junior Neaman Wise (long jump).
Thomas, who holds the USF discus record, finished second in the East and will also be making his third NCAA Outdoor appearance while Wise is another USF record holder in the long jump and will compete at the Outdoor championships for the first time.
The 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held June 6-9 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
