TAMPA - USF represented the red, white and blue well earlier this month on the world stage in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Lissa Olson served as an assistant coach on a United States squad that took home 31 gold medals at the NACAC U-23 Championships. Recent graduate Jared Thomas competed in the men's discus event and placed seventh with a throw of 176' 3" (53.72 m).

"It's a fun experience any time you can coach athletes that are this talented. They're the best of the best and it makes it really rewarding," Olson said after she was selected to the team.

Olson coached the jump events in what was her third stint with a Team USA squad. The fifth-year Bull served as the under-23 team's head coach for the same NACAC event in 2002 and was the head coach for the USA Pan-Am Junior Team in 2003.

Thomas wrapped up a solid senior season as a Bull by placing fifth in the discus at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championship.
