TAMPA - Former Bull Sam Mende's bat continues to make noise in the minor leagues.
The Colorado Rockies' 31st round draft pick in 2011 is hitting .292 with nine homers and 55 RBIs in 86 games for the Asheville Tourists of the Class-A South Atlantic League.
Mende hit .307 during the first half of the season and made the SAL Midseason All-Star Game. The former Clearwater Central Catholic star continues to punish left-handed pitching (.367, 6 HR, 25 RBIs) and he's proven to be dangerous on the base paths (18 steals).
Mende finished off his USF career in stellar fashion in 2009-10 when he hit .308 with 11 homers and 65 RBIs.
