More Late Heroics From Passariello Lifts Bulls

TAMPA – The 2012 Bulls have confidence late in the game with time running down.

For the second straight game, Sharla Passariello scored in the final four minutes to break a tied-game giving USF an eventual game-winner.

USF and Jacksonville were locked in a scoreless tie through nearly 87 minutes of play until Passariello took a pass from Daniella Andrade to beat the keeper and give USF the lone score of the game with 3:04 left in regulation.

“It is always nice to get a goal. It was a complete team effort,” Passariello said. “We kept battling until the 90th minute.”

The Bulls used three keepers, highlighted by freshman net-minder Christiane Endler who played 33:03 and made the only save of the night for USF.

Endler, along with Summer Ikeda and Sydney Drinkwater kept Jacksonville scoreless behind an outstanding defensive effort from seniors Kelly Campbell and Alexandra “Boo” Eagle.

After a scoreless first half, head coach Denise Schilte-Brown stressed getting numbers into the box, and the team responded.

“We were able to get more chances [in the second half] when we had more people in the box,” Passariello said. “It was good. You could it was coming. We had a couple chances.”

USF improved to 2-0 to round out their exhibition slate, and will have a week of preparation before playing host to UCF in the regular season opener on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
