TAMPA - Head coach Agustin Moreno will be a busy man during the USF women's tennis team's fall opener this weekend.
The Bulls get back on the court in Atlanta, where they'll face some of the nation's best at the Southern Shootout that takes place Friday through Sunday at the Sharon Lester Tennis Center. The last time Moreno saw his team take on opponents was all the way back in April, when USF posted a runner-up finish at the Big East tournament in Tampa.
"I haven't seen them competing in so long. This will be a perfect tournament to see where they're at," Moreno said. "It's a tournament where we can see how they've progressed since the summer."
This weekend's action will serve as preparation for a much bigger tournament for Ecaterina Vasenina and Loreto Alonso Martinez. The USF duo will be in the main doubles draw of the Riviera All-American Championships next weekend in Palisades, Calif. Vasenina also will be competing as a singles qualifier in the event.
"This is the perfect tournament to start competing and get better for the All-American tournament," Moreno said.
