Sharla Passariello and the no-quit Bulls busted into the Big East win column Sunday afternoon.

Passariello broke through for the Bulls in the 65th minute of a 1-0 victory at Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. USF improved to 5-4-1 (1-1-1 in Big East) after going scoreless in the past two conference games.

Passariello’s fifth goal of the season came off a crossing pass by Taylor Patterson in a game that saw USF outshoot Seton Hall, 11-7.

“Taylor made a late run through and got slipped the ball. She crossed it on the ground to Sharla, who put it in the left-hand corner of the goal. It was a good finish,” head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said.

One goal was all the Bulls needed with the way their defense has been up to the task. Freshman keeper Christiane Endlermade four saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season, while the rest of the Bulls’ back line gave Seton Hall (6-6-0, 1-3-0) very few clean looks at the net.

“They did a great job on handling any opportunity that their leading goal-scorer had,” Schilte-Brown said. “We’re not only defending, but attacking out of the back and they’re doing things right.”

USF continues Big East play 7:30 p.m. Friday against Cincinnati at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
