TAMPA - The USF baseball traded its spikes for high heels Friday morning for the fourth annual USF "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" march for charity.
The team joined the men's tennis team and hundreds of other participants from the USF and Tampa community to walk a mile through campus to raise awareness about violence against women.
"It's an important issue, especially on a college campus, and our team enjoys being a part of great event," head coach Lelo Prado said.
The team was encouraged, but not required to wear heels. In addition to the walk, men were asked to sign a promise to end sexual and relationship violence towards women.
The international campaign was brought to USF by Eileen Dabrowski, who is an advocate in the USF Center for Victim Advocacy and the former president of Necessary Improvements to Transform our Environment (N.I.T.E.).
