USF Posts Winning Record on Day 1 of Miami Invite

TAMPA - The USF women's tennis team shined in singles play by going 3-1 in Friday's opening rounds of the Miami Invitational.

Loreto Alonso Montoya and Paula Montoya both won in straight sets, while Fanny Fracassi toughed out a three-set victory over FGCU's Johanna Sterkel, 3-6, 6-0, 7-5.

The Bulls went 2-2 in doubles play with Ecaterina Vasenina and Alonso Martinez, and Fracassi and Montoya starting off the tournament with victories.

Fanny Fracassi (USF) defeated Johanna Sterkel (FGCU), 3-6, 6-0, 7-5
