TAMPA - Loreto Alonso Martinez capped off a hot week with a singles title at the Miami Invitational.
USF's junior became the green bracket's top performer of the weekend after she defeated Miami's Lina Lileikite, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, in the championship match Sunday in Coral Gables. Alonso Martinez won four straight matches in the three-day event hosted by the Hurricanes.
Paula Montoya finished off a 3-1 weekend in the championship match of the orange bracket. The sophomore lost to Miami's Nicolle Stracar, 6-2, 6-4.
USF fans have a chance to catch the Bulls in action Oct. 19-21 when they host the USTA/ITA Regionals at the Varsity Courts on campus.
