TAMPA - Some of the nation's best teams will compete in Tampa this weekend.
The USF women's tennis team is proud to be hosting the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional for the first time. Play takes place Friday through Sunday at the USF Varsity and P.E. courts, and fans can watch the entire tournament for free.
"It's the most important tournament for our region and it's the official tournament," USF head coach Agustin Moreno said. "Whomever wins this goes to New York and participates in the national indoor championships."
Vasenina made a huge splash on the national stage two weeks ago by winning four matches and reaching the round of 16 at the Riviera Women's All-American Championships.
Alonso Martinez was USF's top performer last week when she went 4-0 at the Miami Invitational. Montoya finished off a 3-1 weekend with a trip to the championship match of the orange bracket.
"They're playing well and we have others that are playing well. We have a chance of getting that direct entry to the national indoors," Moreno said.
