TAMPA - One more win and Oliver Pramming is in the main draw of a prestigious pro tournament.
Pramming recorded his third straight win at the IMG Academy $10K Futures Tournament by getting past Clayton Almeida, 7-6 (3), 6-2, Sunday in Bradenton.
"He has a great opportunity to play in the main draw if he wins tomorrow," assistant coach Brandon Wagner said. "He played a great opponent today and really showed his craftiness."
Pramming had a close call in the opening set and used a great mix of shots to win the second set with ease.
"After that first set, he mentally broke the other guy down and kind of cruised in the second set," Wagner said. "He didn't allow his opponent to get into a rhythm at all and the other guy didn't know what to do."
Pramming faces off against Jean-Yves Aubone on Monday morning for a spot in the tournament's main draw that will begin on Tuesday.
"Just getting these wins under his belt really helps his confidence and belief in himself," Wagner said. "It reiterates some of the good things he's doing in practice and that's paying off in these matches."
