TAMPA - USF volleyball coach Courtney Draper thought Erin Fairs could be special at the beginning of the season and the rookie outside hitter delivered all the way to the Big East tournament.
Fair has been named Big East Freshman of the Year and earned All-Big East Second Team honors after helping the Bulls post 16 wins and book their first trip to the conference tournament since 2010.
The Richmond, Texas native leads the Bulls with 2.71 kills per set and ranks third on the team with 2.66 digs per set heading into USF's conference quarterfinal match against Notre Dame on Friday.
"She's going to be a really exciting player to watch through her future at USF," Draper said back in August.
USF earned more conference recognition on Thursday night when junior Kayla Walton was named to the All-Big East First Team.
Walton, a right side hitter, leads USF with 290 kills and has a .301 hitting percentage through 29 matches.
