TAMPA - Loreto Alonso-Martinez gave the Bulls their lone singles win on the final day of the Michigan Invitational.
Alonso-Martinez cruised past Georgia Tech's Jasmine Minor, 6-3, 6-0, in the USF women's tennis team's set of singles matches against the No. 20 Yellow Jackets on Monday.
No. 43 USF also faced two other opponents in the top 20 and fared well during its three-day stay in Ann Arbor, Mich.
No. 35 Katie Vasenina helped USF go 3-3 in singles against No. 16 Michigan and the Bulls also took two out of three doubles matches from No. 18 Ole Miss on Saturday. USF took all three doubles matches against Georgia Tech on Sunday and also got singles wins from Danielle Mills and Kate Parker against Ole Miss opponents.
USF begins competition at the national indoor qualifying tournament on Friday in Los Angeles. The Bulls stay on the road to face No. 1 Florida in Gainesville on Tuesday, Jan. 29 before hosting No. 38 Florida State on Saturday, Feb. 2. Admission is free during the regular season at the USF Varsity Courts.
