USF Senior Writer

TAMPA - Ignacio Gonzalez Muniz got a singles win for USF before rain canceled its match with Coly Poly on Sunday at Los Angeles Tennis Center.

Gonzalez continued to show improvement in his first semester with the Bulls by outlasting Cal Poly's Marco Comuzzo, 6-1, 1-6, 7-6, in the consolation round of ITA Kickoff Weekend. Sunday's match will not be resumed.

Weather postponed a large number of matches during national indoor qualifying at UCLA. USF's opening test against BYU was originally scheduled for Friday but didn't conclude until Saturday night. Rain started to fall in the middle of action on Sunday and five of USF's nine matches went unfinished.

USF season continues Sunday, Feb. 3 at LSU before the Bulls return to the USF Varsity Courts on Friday, Feb. 8 to take on North Florida.
