TAMPA - Florida State's visit to Tampa comes at a great time for the No. 45 USF women's tennis team.
The Bulls want to start rising in the national rankings and have a chance to move up if they can get past the No. 29 Seminoles on Saturday at the USF Varsity Courts. Action begins at 11 a.m. and admission is free.
"It's a tough match that we're excited about. It's important for rankings and it's a rivalry," USF head coach Agustin Moreno said.
USF has confidence on its side after taking the past three matches in the series with the Seminoles. The Bulls' streak includes two victories in Tallahassee after Moreno's group rallied to a 4-3 win last year. USF erased a 3-1 deficit with singles victories by Fanny Fracassi and Lucie Rey before top player Katie Vasenina earned the decisive point with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the last match of the day.
Moreno expects another tough battle Saturday and said the Bulls are well prepared for it.
"They know it's a very important match," he said. "We've talked about it, got ready for it and we're going to throw everything we have against them."
